Nearly there (or not)

I completed W9R2 this morning and started writing this post about how I am planning to do my graduation run and my first park run on Saturday, when I received a call from the hospital asking if I would like to have the minor surgery, I am due, tomorrow. A bit of a shock but I accepted. So no graduation at the weekend. Presumably when I am able to run again I will have to go back a few weeks on the programme and build back up again to the graduation run.

Bummer, but horray for getting the op! Such a shame to miss out on the last one so close to the finish line, but your health is more important (you can't run without that!)

Ask the nurse (not the consultant! I find they totally underestimate the recovery time necessary) how long you need to wait for before going back to it.

I hope it goes well. 😁

You've done the right thing accepting the surgery although it interfered with your graduation run.

Get better then we will look out for your graduation post. Good luck 😊

Right decision, for sure. And you will be back in excellent shape to finish the running plan. πŸ’ͺ🏽 After your op, they will ask if you have any questions and you will have one ready! Good luck with the op & hope it goes easily.

Well it really depends on long a recovery time you need, you don't really lose any fitness for the first 2 weeks anyway. So let's say you have to stop for 3 or even 4 weeks you could just do a W5R3 to regain your confidence, then if that goes good do a W7 or W8 run and then just redo W9.

It also depends on if you can do any cardio during your recovery; fast walking etc. Just talk frankly with your surgeon tomorrow and then you can put together a plan.

Best of luck and wishing you a super speedy recovery! πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Well that’s bad luck, but health is more important at the end of the day. Good luck for tomorrow, and hope you can get back to it soon.

Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery! Just be sensible and ease yourself back in gently, you'll probably be surprised at how little your fitness levels have dropped. And being that bit fitter now will aid your recovery. Graduation will wait for you!

Gutted for you, but obviously the right choice.

But you know you can do it. So once you're fully recovered, you'll soon get back into it.

It will make that final run taste all the more sweet!

Not what you're looking for?
