W9R3 - Graduated but not quite as I expected

I had my heart set on graduating tonight, so nothing was going to stop me. Work went okay, although the commute home did take just over 2hours rather than the usual 1hr1/4 (thank you Beyoncé). Managed to get the youngest to sleep by 7:15 then took the four year of up to the allotment to help water the plants (as my husband is out of action lifting things for a few weeks). I felt like a contestant on strongest man carrying two full 20 litre water cartons in each hand. Then there was the task getting four year old to sleep - 9:15 so still time to run before it went dark.

Next was the main hiccup, my iPhone. It has been playing up for the last 48hours and everytime I try anything on an app or the internet it crashes after less than a few minutes. So off I set, Sarah welcomed me again, podcast on, map my run tracking and then the inevitable happened - phone crashed - so 'naked' running it was going to be. I have never run without Sarah by my side and not having my newly found love of desert island discs;I felt worried about the next 30mins. Fortunately I have kept to the same route for the past few runs and have a very consistent pace. So off I went, I let my mind wander, listened to different bird sounds, watched as the sky turned orange and surprised myself that it wasn't as bad as I thought going without encouragement or distractin. My pace felt good too and just so I was triply sure that I had covered both 5K and 30 minutes I carried on running at the end to 5 minutes beyond when I knew I started from my clock and beyond the 5k distance I had reached previously. So turns out after now logging it on map my run that I covered 5.9K in 35 mins - feeling pretty chuffed tonight.

Brilliant result - well done , I'm a few weeks behind (Wk7) and a morning runner but hopefully I'll have as good a graduation as you did - thanks for the post !

You’re almost there now, I hope the rest of it goes well for you. Week 9 has definitely been my favourite.

Well done fellow graduate.

Wish I had your impressive times, but working towards it.

I graduated last Thursday and did my 1st Park run on Saturday.

I surprised myself but we each have our own personal goals and we have all achieved the same when we graduate. How was your park run, trying to decide if it is something I would enjoy- love team sports but not sure about communal running bizarrely. May also be I like the freedom to fit running in when I can.

Brilliant!

Well Done for both the running - excellent pace - and carrying the water cans 😂 I've got to do that for part of the Army entrance test and they're bloody heavy!

I think you are probably carrying them a lot further than I did! I have discovered muscles I didn’t know I had mind- and not in a good way.

Haha - muscles are always a good thing!

Only got to do the minimun (30m i think?) as a musician. Mind you there's quite a large part of me that would quite like to do the full 150m against all the fit young blokes - I'm an old lady (well 43!) 5ft 3 and don't weigh much more than the jerry cans 😂

As soon as he is better, the hubbie can have the allotment duties back although he did point out it is conveniently positioned half way along my route and would be an excellent place to ‘rest’
