Going to begin the program next Monday. Looking to see if its really possible to go from Couch to 5k. In New England, would be happy if its accomplished by March or April when the snow is done, or when we can consistently run outside. Hope the training is realistic.

Hello and welcome! here you are and here we are.. Please do give the C25K advice post a peek... loads to take in but great to pop in and out...as questions arise..

The whole plan is so structured and the idea, is to get you running to 30 minutes after nine weeks, ( or longer if need be), reaching 5K is not compulsory
Slow and steady is the mantra... keep posting for incredible support and ask any questions you like !
Looking forward to seeing your first post on Monday! x
It all depends on how often you run. It's nominally nine weeks, but you aren't obliged to progress that quickly.
Bear in mind that the programme of runs most of us follow here is the one on the UK's NHS website which is purely time-based and doesn't require a 5km run at any point in the scheme.
🍏 Welcome to our forum! Excellent decision. Do have a good read of our guide and answers to FAQ & feel free to ask any others after reading it. Click on this link.

Many of us have been through the process and loved it. You may not be running 5K .. very few do initially but you will certainly be running for 30mins non stop if you follow the guidelines. The 5k comes a little later for most of us.
Have a read & get back to us.
Also, if you're planning to use the NHS C25K programme, afaik the app isn't available in the US, so you'll need to use the podcasts. If you're an Android user you can download them here: nowster.me.uk/c25k/podcasts... For Apple, go here: podcasts.apple.com/gb/podca...
If you use a different app, the programme structure won't necessarily be identical, as nowster has already indicated, though of course you're still very welcome on the forum. 🙂
Hiya,It certainly seems to work. I am 50 and unfit, particularly as I have been ill for a few months. I have never run before.I have just completed a 28 min run. I will say, I don't expect to be doing 5k by the end of Cto5, as (particularly for women), it is unlikely, but I am planning to continue after to do that far.
I made it from C2 30 min in nine weeks. Lots of folks repeat runs/weeks or take some time off for illness or other reasons so it can take longer.
Persistence and consistency are key. I made it to 5K about four weeks after graduating from the NHS app.
It's absolutely doable! Do check in with your healthcare provider to ensure that you have their recommendation to start an exercise programme.
All the best!!
