Hello, blimey I am finding this hard, wk 5 run 3 felt great, I was so pleased but today wk8 run 1 - 28 mins felt very hard!
I am struggling with my lower legs, ankles and soles of my feet. My calves are tight and sore in places to touch, my ankles ache as do the soles of my feet (I think so of this is down to neuropathy from chemotherapy a couple of years ago), I have bought new Brooke’s trainers after advice from the running shop locally and they have made a little difference but no as much as I hoped. I stretch before and after, I do Pilates 2-3 times a week, I have been using a muscle gun but sometimes my legs are just too sore, anything else I could try? I really want to do this!

🍏 I feel for you having had chemo & being left with peripheral neuropathy in my feet. When I first started Couch I was advised to buy really good running socks… to run very, very slowly & to take extra rest days when needed. The other thing I find really helpful is to masssage my legs & feet after a warm Epsom salts bath. Definitely Pilates and good dynamic warm ups & static cool down exercises will be helpful. However having said all this a visit to a physio or GP may be necessary if that pain gets any worse. Xx
Do take the advicefrom Annieapple and do pop across to the Strength and Flex Froum where there are a whole load of exercises for that running body.. especially the legs... a really old post, I did a while back has some info.. and there are other links too!
Id agree with the socks - I wouldn't dream of running without mine - could be an idea to get some compression socks as this may help with the calf aching.Take it slow and stretch befire abd after your run & when taking a rext day from running make sure you still stretch
Due to your history of neuropathy (I have the diabetic version ) you might want to check in with your health care provider. Neuropathy can sometimes mask/alter pain sensations.
I usually see a podiatrist every few months and have done so a bit more frequently since starting to run.
