Week 4 Run 2

I set off early yesterday morning for Run 2 of week 4. Hadn’t slept well and hadn’t eaten. Tia had had an upset tummy in the night so walked her first rather than take her with me on my run. This added just over a kilometre and a couple of steep hills before I started. I still had to do the 5 minute warm up as the first 500m is up a very steep hill. I had decided to try a different route which was fine but it meant I was 2k from home when I finished and then another steep climb before the final descent. About half way through the final 5 mins I had to stop and felt very dizzy. After about 5 minutes I restarted final five and made it home. Ended up doing 7k and out for over an hour. Lesson learnt, if I do this again, I need half a slice of toast before setting out. Let’s see how tomorrow goes!

🍏 Low blood sugar is not a pleasant feeling! Glad you made it home safely. Amazing how that & lack of sleep affects a run. Every time we run we learn new things either about running or ourselves., or so says coach B on NRC. Well done on getting the run done ✔️ xx

Sounds very unpleasant. I always have a bit of toast or some fruit and yogurt before I run. Probably not what most people do but as long as I wait 30minutes or so before heading out I e not had any problems.

That doesn’t sound pleasant seems like you need just a little something to eat if you are going to stick to that plan, but could must’ve been the lack of sleep that sent you dizzy !

Not all run days are the same I’m sure you will solve this for your next run x

That sounds like a tough run, but you did it 😁

Well today I decided to have a yogurt before setting out and took the walking sections at a steadier pace, as most are steeply up hill I realised that I was more exhausted at the end of my walks than at the beginning! So today I walked at a normal rather than brisk pace during walks and managed to keep going (except for an occasional wee stop for Tia when I jogged in the spot). Survived!!
