After my Take 2 post on Friday, having got back to W9 R2 for the second time I wasn't going to fail again! So.… very pleased with my shiny new Graduate wings. I'm not ready to say goodbye to Michael and will keep him for my consolidation runs, but actually can't imaging running without him!
Between May when I was working on my first attempt and now, working on the second attempt, I have switched phones and the GPS accuracy (even set to high) isn't brilliant. I know I'm running pretty much the same distance as I did before, and actually ran further today than before, (and I'm a saddo that records each run on a spreadsheet so can see all data in one go), but wasn't sure why it's a bit wonky as my new phone should be better than the old! I've been using the Fitbit tracking, but today tried Strava for the first time. The data between the two is different, and the map isn't quite right, so not sure if there is anything I can do to improve the accuracy. I'm interested in being able to track improvement, and certainly am not setting any records in pace, but would be nice to know where I'm actually at.

It's tricky with GPS, weather can affect it, many devices are slightly different... maybe you need to put a Garmin Forerunner on your Christmas list... 🤣🤣🤣
Any phone based GPS is likely to be a bit out depending on where you're wearing your phone. So many little annoying factors.
Even the best devices can be out, I just use one and go by that regardless otherwise we can really wind ourselves up with the anomalies. 👍🏻
Congratulations, I don’t know about stats I use fitbit and although probably not accurate it’s a guide, so i know we are running longer and a bit faster than we did in the beginning and that’s enough for me
The stats get very addictive....i would consider a running watch....on my Santa wish list is a Corus Apex that uses gps and glonass, to improve accuracy.....depends how much you want to spend really
When I’m not running I’m scuba diving, I’ve got about 15 years of dives logged on a spreadsheet, it’s great to have all that information to hand when you want to see what factors affect your performance. Do you run faster or slower on cold days? Is your average pace increasing over time? Does a week off for a holiday make you slower when you get back? You can be a proper data geek. 😉
