Struggled with this one. Took a new path and it was a bad track to run. Lots of uneven ground so had to walk bits as it was so bad. I did get to more even ground for the last 5 minutes and felt goid that I extended my run by another 2 minutes.Need to start stretching first to avoid sluggish start of runs. Overall, glad it is done as I really did not want to go this morning.

Uneven ground is tricky-it sounds like you did a great job with a challenging run. Are you going to try a new route next time?

It’s usually best to stick with the timings but most of us will have had an enthusiastic moment or two. If you’re adding chunks on, you’re risking injury with doing too much too soon, but no-one’s judging a minute or two between friends!

Going back to old path on Friday lol.It was a lovely route for a walk but to much risk of twisted ankles to run on.

That sounds like a sensible decision. Have a fun next run!

🍏 Well done on going even when it was the last thing you felt like doing! Those sometimes end up with best feel good factor. Yes indeed a dynamic warm up before going out is very helpful especially with autumn in the air! Always transition from walking to running slowly. As the runs get longer make an effort to do the first 10 mins at snails pace.. it’s the best tip I ever received!!

Sounds like the ‘toxic ten’ (first ten minutes of a run when the body is transitioning.) Stretching will definitely help and taking that time slow and steady…
