About two weeks and half ago, I had to stop running because of (not related to running) back nerve issues. I got them sorted out, and last Tuesday the GP gave me the green light to start running again from the following Friday. I did an easy 20 minutes run to ease back into it and I enjoyed it so much.
So this morning I went for my usual 30 minutes route. Foggy day, autumnal woods, soaking wet ground. I felt quite confident running though, as I find wet leaves on mud are a rather stable surface. Until, 20 minutes in, I got to a long downhill slope which I had forgotten was not mud but pebbles. Wet, slippery pebbles hidden under wet, slippery leaves. I took about three steps on it before I twisted my ankle.
I don't think it's too bad as it isn't bruised, just swollen, but painful. Just as I was so glad to be back on track. Sigh.
