Well 7 years after starting C25K I've finally graduated! (I know they say take it slow and steady but I'm sure 7 years is maybe too slow).. It was a beautiful morning for a run, a slight nip in the air until the sun came up properly, watching the ducks on the lake as I dutifully did my laps to encouragement from Laura.
The only disappointment was that Laura was not waiting for me at the end with a finish line, party poppers and a glass of champagne
It seems hard to believe now that the first challenge in the programme was to run for 60 seconds.
So now for a few weeks of consolidation and then gradually build up to 5k. For those that have read my posts this week and were wondering, if I start Laura going as I cross the road before the pub, the 5 minute warm up walk finishes exactly at my start line at the lake. 6.8 laps to do 5k, currently doing 4 and a third (halfish?), so in between fixed time runs I've got a distance target to slowly work towards as well.
I've loved c25k, it's been fantastic for both physical and mental health, and slow and steady coupled with all the support from here has got me across that line so that I can now slowly become a runner. For a mid 50's bloke who hasn't done any serious exercise or sport since leaving school, this has been a real eye opener.
