New runner, question about Nike Infinity Run 4

Hello, everyone! This is my first post ever. I'm a Software Engineer, work all day on my laptop, and I'm definitely a couch potato. I've always wanted to be more active, whether through yoga, exercises, tennis, or some other sport.

Recently, I saw that the Barbie Run 2024 is coming to Peru. It's on September 15th, and I signed up in a moment of excitement. Of course, I know I need to prepare. With that goal in mind, I started googling and downloaded the app Watch to 5k, which follows the Couch to 5k plan for my Apple Watch.

I've just finished Week 1 Day 3. But I want to share this: I did days 1 and 2 in my Skechers slip-ins that I always wear in my daily life. They are very old, since I use them to go anywhere and to take out my dog as well. Before day 3, I decided to buy an actual running shoe. At Nike, they recommended the Nike Infinity Run 4. I loved it, especially the pink color and how it felt so cushiony. It did feel a bit weird on the sides, though, but they told me it was because it's a shoe for a pronating foot, and it's perfect for me. It will adapt and help me over time. So I tried it out on Week 1 Day 3, and oh boy! It was painful. During the last jogging interval, I couldn't complete the 60 seconds. I walked half of it, and even that was painful. The pain was on the sides, especially my left foot, in the middle, which I believe is the arch, on the inside.

Will it improve? Will it break in? I've read in other forums that some people said it improved after their 4th run with the shoe, while others said it took miles to break them in. Some completely love it, while others returned them.

I should mention that I can't return them, and I definitely can't afford to buy another pair of running shoes. Oh, and I did size up.

Before Week 2 Day 1, I'm thinking about giving it another go by repeating Week 1 Day 3 to see if they break in or improve somehow.

Oh dear, there is nothing worse than uncomfortable shoes. They certainly shouldn't be feeling as bad as this. The problem might be something as simple as changing the way you lace the shoes. Alternatively there may be a defect. Whichever, these shoes aren't doing what they are supposed to do so you should have rights under the Sale of Goods Act.

My suggestion is to go back to the shop and explain your problem. Depending on where you bought them there should be someone with enough product knowledge to help sort this out. Failing that, contact Nike themselves.

Remember, reputable businesses really value happy customers and when you approach people asking for help (rather than demanding a refund 😁) they will want to make a good impression so you come back!

Good luck

I understand the OP is in Peru. So while the Sale of Goods Act could be helpful in England and Wales it's irrelevant in this case.

Sorry, didn't see that. Maybe there's similar consumer rights in Peru?
