Yesterday was hectic, I had a lot to do and was constantly behind schedule but instead of de prioritising W1R2 I made sure to slot it in albeit 3hrs later than intended. First three minutes running felt really tough but the rest were absolutely fine! I’m not even achy or stiff today which I was a bit the day after W1R1. I’m getting such positive vibes at the mo it feels great! And thank you for the lovely supportive welcome back peeps 😁

🍏🙌👏🤗 So very well done Ava for getting back to the program and getting the first two runs done! Does the dog run with you? We need a photo & introduction to this friend in due course even if she’s not a running partner! Week 1 nearly done. 👍 xx

Well done, onwards and upwards to run 3 of week 1, remember to take all the runs slowly, you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to, drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, no running on consecutive days as that could cause a injury, if you wish report back here on your progress, we are all here to encourage runners with C25K.

Hello and very well done you...

How super... you running and a small ? companion too. There will I am sure, that, like me , you would love to have more than two legs!

Do make sure you begin to pop a bit of strength and stamina work as you move on... although with that small companion, I think you do plenty of walking already:)

Hi Oldfloss

I’ve had Ollie almost a year and he does get me out walking, thank goodness as I had broken my shoulder tripping over a kerb and become quite inactive through being fearful of my own ineptitude. I’ve gradually increased walking speed and have been thinking of restarting C25K for ages… I’m curious about what strength & stamina you’d recommend though!

Well... there is a whole load of stuff on the S and F Forum and many folk do use this link...

healthunlocked.com/strength...

It works alongside C25K, and if you are out on dog walks, it may be that you could fit things in?

On the S and F forum there is so much, to choose from... from sensible to maybe not quite so regular exercise work...

e.g.

healthunlocked.com/strength...

and,healthunlocked.com/strength...

Thing is, find something that suits you and your lifestyle... and that you think you could enjoy keeping up... you'd be surprised hot much you do already, that with a few tweaks can really impact

i.e. Teeth cleaning squats!

A lot to take in but just have a look around :)

Well done with sticking with it. Stretching before and after is very important. I was surprised that I haven't felt achy either.Achieving each run will give you a great boost. This is just as much a mental challenge as it is a physical one. Stick with it, the rewards are amazing.

Go GrandadM! Hope it goes gloriously today! I’m enjoying this time round knowing that I have been able to do this before 😁 it’s just a case of can I do it again!

Do tell about stretching before: last time out the received wisdom was warm up before, stretch after …

Ah! I see now that you have the badge! I go to an oldies balance and stamina exercise class and the trainer there is keen on stretch/warm-up before and cool-down/stretch after. I use the same stretches. Keen now to move on to the "Beyond 5k" runs that have recently been added to the app - looking forward to Jo's help again.

That's really great ATG!!!

I'm so glad you gave the next run a shot!! And look at the result...

Do you do any stretching before your warm-up walk and after your cool-down walk? If not, you might want to.

I used to have what's called the 'toxic ten' - those first ten minutes when your body is switching gears and getting used to 'running'. Here's a link to a post that made it all make sense for me:

Consistency and a slow and steady pace will get you there.
