Hi all. I'm on week 5 just wondering which trainers to buy for a 70 year old woman?

hello Rabbit
Firstly the disclaimer, I am not an expert and in no way qualified.
I don't think age is a factor at all, more important considerations would be your gait, what is your preferred terrain, do you have any injury that makes you favour one side or the other, budget etc. For proper advice, you would do well to find a local running store where you should find someone who can advise you properly and if needed, can offer gait analysis.
Good luck, there is so much out there it can be overwhelming, just because it is expensive does not necessarily mean it is the right one for you.
hello Rabbitrunner53 , as BM said, always worth going to a proper running shop and getting a proper fitting and gait analysis. I didn’t realise until I had mine done that I was wearing completely the wrong size. My running shoes now are fab and fit like a glove
Your age really does not matter... many folk do go and get a gait analysis... some not.. I did not but that is just me...
Maybe check this link out..it may help

Remember too, that your runing socks can play a big part in your running comfort too
Morning. I would definitely recommend you go and have a gait analysis done from a local store. They can see and advise what kind of running shoes would be best for you. You’ll be able to try on and choose which are comfortable. You will probably have to pay for your gait analysis,I did but after I had that done my gait analysis I chose my pair and the shop knocked the gait analysis price off the shoes.
Correct fitting of the running shoes is vital for a comfortable and enjoyable run. So good luck with your search.
Yep! A proper running store is the best place!
I tried running decades ago and had major issues with shin splints. I thought I would give C25K a shot as a friend was doing it and committed to getting new trainers.
I've not had those problems this time and I think its the shoes and a good stretching pre- and post-runs.
I didn't go to a running shop as I don't drive and there wasn't one in my town...I'm a 7 in a trainer but was advised to go bigger as your feet push forward when you run and you don't want to damage your toenails 😖
I started with a 7.5 but as I started running further had a bit of bruising so now wear an 8 and have had no further issues.
I wear Brooks Ghost running shoes, there's a lot of us that use different types of Ghost shoes. They are expensive but I usually try to buy last year's model, recently got some Ghost 14s online for £65 instead of £130 as the 15s and possibly 16s were now available.
It's defo a plus having good running socks too, and in some of the shoes if I've felt I needed extra support I've worn a gel insole.
Hi, I am 75 women. Bought New Balance running shoes on week 5, now on week 7. What a transformation! I went to a reputable family run specialist business who did a gait check first before bringing.out shoes to try. Eventually bought first pair but fitter insisted he looked at my foot in other shoes first to make absolutely sure that I got the.best.fit. Thrilled to bits as no longer have pain in my knee and ankle when running. Wouldn't consider buying my next pair without professional fitting
Hi, the best trainers
As everybody says, go to a proper running shop. If possible, do a gait analysis, whatever they recommend won’t be any more expensive than what you would probably buy anyway. I’d stay away from places like sports direct until you know your brand and model. Get yourself some fantastic running socks and enjoy your shopping trip!
I’m no expert and I’m sure gait analysis is a good idea. Having said that I’ve tried loads of trainers (I was 60 when I started this journey and now I’m 66) and Nikes never rub so it must be the shape as every other make Ive tried expert fitted or not rubs holes on my heels. My current pair are Nike trail which were £4 from Vinted
