Trainers, squishy, sizing

Final run tomorrow and have been running in Sportiva trail shoes which are fantastic in the mud but quite jarring everywhere else. Have promised myself a comfy squishy pair after W9R3 but as trying on in a shop might be tricky, wonder if there is a size guide so I can use tinternet? Normal shoe size is UK 5.5/6 (39).

Generally speaking a size bigger is good for distance running... but a lot varies from brand to brand. Even more of a variable is width fittings and where the shoe gives that width... which is all the more reason to get gait analysis and/or try lots of pairs on. I can’t comment on any other stores personally, but decathlon are allowing shoes to be tried on while keeping their changing rooms closed.

Have a wonderful graduation run and enjoy the quest for the perfect shoe.

Thank you! I think this time around is going to be quite a bit slower but no less satisfying. 😁

I was fitted in the Start running shop and was shocked to be recommended a whole foot size bigger (size 5 instead of size 4). They look like boats but so comfy and supportive, my feet spread but I've never had sore toes like in normal trainers. The good thing is I am never tempted to keep them on when I am finished the run :)

I seem to remember getting a larger size but they vary so much from make to make. I think a personal visit is inevitable but was trying to avoid shops for now. 😷
