Thigh pain in wk 6,
🍏Well done for getting to week 6. Hopefully you have some ice on those sore thighs. Stop running until there is no more pain. If you still have pain next week it’s best to seek medical advice! The runs will wait!!
You need to slow down and run slower. These muscle injuries often occur when we push our bodies too quickly. You need to run easily to allow your body to adjust from walking to running. There is time after graduation to adjust speed if you want to.
Let us know how you get on!
Are you in actual pain that doesn't go away, perhaps limping, or is it just your legs reminding you that you've been for a run Waterwolves ?
If the former, particularly if you suspect a muscle strain, don't run until you're moving comfortably again. Pushing on through real pain is more likely to exacerbate any injury than improve things.
If the latter, are you doing appropriate pre-run warm-ups and post-run cooldowns, particularly stretching? Taking at least one rest day between run days, and following the programme rather than adding on extra time? How's your hydration? And are you running at a comfortable pace for you, and in suitable shoes?
Your body's still adjusting to running, and it will very likely feel easier some days than others.
Hope you feel better soon.
It could just be running too hard. Are you putting in some strength and stamina work on some of your rest days? As Annieapple says, do not run if you are in pain, and if it persists do seek medical advice.
Some help here maybe?
