Was on week 4 and although found it really hard I was getting on ok, until I developed a very sore back / buttock, to the point where I couldn’t walk never mind run.
I went to see a sports physio who diagnosed a sacroiliac joint problem, I then developed sciatica I have had regular physio which included accupuncture.
6 weeks later I am recovering well and for the last week I haven’t had to take any analgesia thank goodness.
Has anyone had this problem and if so when is the right time to start running again. My physio says I will know when I’m ready but I’m terrified of the pain coming back.

🍏I had a very similar thing to this last year. SO painful!! Hopefully you have been given exercises to do for life to keep that pain away! If you can do your back exercises and you can walk painfree without any medication then you are ready . However go right back to the start & build up slowly again. I did this.. like you I was scared of that pain returning so wasn’t going to risk a longer run! I have never looked back!!!

Your physio would be a great person to ask about stretching. Mine gave me specific ones related to where potential problems could occur. That appointment is very well timed!
If you’re worried, seeing your physio for reassurance seems like the best course of action. I found the mental side of returning from injury hardest and having been told by a physio that I was safe, I wasn’t doing any damage to myself and knowing exactly how much pain was acceptable at different points in my run was such a useful thing to hold on to when I was feeling nervous. It sounds like you’re in a great place for restarting but if you’ve got concerns, it’s always best to seek qualified, real life advice.
I have had the same - follow your physios advice - but maybe go for a short run and run walk - e.g run for 2-3 km and if the pain starts walk… try and build on the pain free runs
