I have caught up with my old friend running this week after a a sporadic start to the year. Three things have been against me sticking to my schedule
- nanny duties ( an absolute pleasure but it has been a tricky few weeks with him; after a difficult birth and feeding issues, he’s just one of those babies who doesn’t settle but finally I think we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel 🤞🏼)
-being short staffed at work ( not such a pleasure 😉) has meant extra long days and frankly I’ve been too done in to run after I get home.
- the weather!😡 now, I’m a great believer in no such thing as bad weather but I can’t remember such a miserable and WINDY start to the year as we’ve had. I absolutely loathe running in wind .
Anyway I dodged the hurricanes ( I exaggerate) earlier in the week and did a couple of short runs, and as a reward woke up to a perfect morning today. Ebony got excited as soon as she saw me get the Aftershokz out but she was jumping the gun because I was only charging them. Luckily they charge really quickly and not long after out we went to a beautiful sunny morning with absolutely NO WIND! Only one place to be on such a lovely day so off we trotted down the beach. Because the sun was still quite low our shadows amused me! Honestly on Thursday night I could barely stand up against the wind, Ebony’s ears were a-flapping and the sea was crashing: today it was a millpond 😊
I love my old friend running and wish I hadn’t been so neglectful of her but as I said in Floss’s changing room chat earlier this week, like a true good friend we just pick up again where we left off. I’ve got a niggling thought in the back of my head that maybe I should do bridge to 10K or something so I’ve got a program to follow again , which might keep me on the straight and narrow, although I don’t really have a burning desire to run 10k. I might consult Coach B ❤️ and see what he thinks, but I’d welcome your thoughts too! 😃
Enjoy the Easter weekend I hope it’s as nice where you are as it is here 😎
