I used to like sunny weather...

But now I find myself religiously checking the weather app on my phone and feeling disappointed if the sun is shinning! What has happened to me?! My fellow English friends will attest to the fact that it has been, well, bloody hot over the past few days! Yesterday, the thunderstorms and fresher weather never arrived, so I decided enough is enough! I waited til as late as possible (9.30) in the hope that it'd be cooler and ventured out. I've decided I quite like late night running...it wasn't too dark, but it was quieter and very pleasant to get home, have a cold shower and slip straight into bed. I only did about 4 miles, but that'll do. I prefer running in cool, rainy weather I've decided! Unfortunately, my 10k training means I have little choice! Anyone else feeling the heat at the moment?! Anyone got any good tips for keeping cool in this weather?

Patient to Doctor -- It hurts when I hit my head against the wall.

Doctor to Patient - then stop hitting your head against the wall !! :)

Early morning (pre-dawn) training is the only training I can do here in sub-tropical Queensland. Early evening summer is still too hot - the land has warmed up during the day. Early morning it is quiet, cool and fresh - a no brainer. :)

Stop running during the day in summer !!

I remember a summers day on the Isle Of Wight some years ago - it was bloody hot!! - as hot as where I live !!! However your summer only lasts a week - ours lasts 5 months!! :)

I must say I hate hot weather so this is hellish for me. Roll on the cold mists of autumn and even winter! Yesterday I soaked my whole head in water before heading out and it was lovely and cool. Also, aliboo70 takes a spray bottle with her for on-the-go cooling.

Well done on getting out to do the run.

I think all runners are suffering from the heat. I know I am. I'm always checking for clouds and get a real thrillif it rains - that'll cool it down! Like Bazza says early morning is the only bearable time. The heat just stays around all day and into the evening. Some people on here get up at 4 am for a run but I'm not into that. I drag myself out at 6ish and it is pleasant. At 8 it is already hot.Roll on autumn, eh?!
