I have just finished the first run of week 1, I skipped at leaste 2 of the runs, it was so difficult, has only experienced cramping like really bad period cramps when running?? What is it and how do you cope with it?

I wonder if you are describing a stitch? It is really important to find a comfortable, ‘conversational’ pace to complete the runs. If you go too fast you risk injury and it will be aversive process. You need to make sure that this exercise feels doable and that (at least some of the time) it’s enjoyable. Read the guide to the programme. Speeding up can come later when your fitness is improved.

Oh and stitches also suggest you are not hydrated enough, drink plenty of water throughout each day.

Good luck!

Thanks BlahdeBlah3 I think you a right. I've been working nights so probably not as well hydrated as I would usually be. I need to cut down coffee once I'm back on days.

Were you doing this? If not, then I strongly suggest you should - I suspect you won't have any cramps ...

‘Slow jogging’ doesn’t suit everyone of course (it would put me off jogging for ever) but it is an option for some.

It isn't but we admins always recommend it for anyone struggling.

Hi John, this video is really helpful! I definitely need to get used to landing on the ball of my feet as I sound like elephant running through the park because I'm landing on my heals. Thanks for the video! It's super helpful

Slow is the super power. I think every single one of us starts this programme too fast and makes it way harder than it should be. I think you’ll be surprised at the difference. Good luck and keep going. Each run gets a bit easier!

For stitches try a deep belly breath to ease it. Don’t worry if you couldn’t do all the runs, tomorrow is another day and believe it or not it does get easier. Keep going
