week 5 complete

20 mins of running. I would have said that the app was bonkers even a week ago but I did it. I looked like a sweaty old mess. But I did it. And if I can give anyone any advise on this it would be to just do it. Believe me I’m no runner and I wouldn’t even consider myself one yet, but anyone struggling with this 5k I say just keep going, I’ve slowed down to 5km/h walk and 7-7.5 on the run( I have short legs, I look like a Jack Russell trying to keep up with a Great Dane in the gym when the big guys/girls are on them running at 10.!! But jealousy doesn’t become me) this last 5 weeks I’ve had days that I found easy and I thought I’d cracked it then my next run was a slog. I feel energised though, the app keeps me on track and motivated to not loose my week streak. I’ve never run 20 mins in my life ever. So I say to anyone that’s struggling just keep going, one foot in front of the other. Slow, fast, crawling it doesn’t matter it’s your goal not anyone else’s and it does get easier. But I’ll probably be crying at the end of week 6 and retract all of this 😂.

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran 🏃🏾

Well done you. I concur wholeheartedly that the 20 minute was a barrier for me as well. As an older runner, I took months on W6R3, then one morning, I was determined to tackle W7R1. I felt so proud that I conquered this mental block!

Best wishes,

Woohoo! Well done, that first 20m run is such a significant milestone from the couch. Your exuberance in your achievement is shining through in your post, which makes me smile. There will be harder runs, and easier runs - it’s the nature of things! You are out there running, that’s the important thing. Bravo 👏
