Week 8 Run 2 - how to continue after graduation???

I’ve got graduation coming up next week and am so worried that once I’ve finished the programme I will just stop running 🙃 it doesn’t feel like I’m ready to graduate and I don’t trust myself to make my own routines and structure with running after the programme…any advice on this would be so appreciated!

Once you graduate, the support you had to get to Graduation, is still here...you can stay here a while for some consolidation of your runs and then maybe think of where you would like to go.

You may just want to run for pure joy, and not push forward too quickly. You may feel that you want to run for longer, to improve your pace or change your running location?

Whatever you want, we are here to advise and support.

There is Bridge to 10K, if you feel that is for you and a whole glut of runs on the Nike Running Club app/ Guided runs for every distance or every time.

So... you are doing well... just relax into these longer runs and know that once you reach the podium... the whole running world is out there waiting ... as are we:)

Try the NRC App there is plenty on there to inspire and keep you busy!

Everything there from ten minute runs to much much longer ones...and runs for every mind set... I did. Running for more purpose, again on Sunday ! I'll need one for Running in snow, come tomorrow!

Congratulations!

You’ve already had some fab suggestions. I moved over to bridge to 10k and got loads of support on the quest posts there. I’ve seen there’s a brand new one this morning…

I also love Nike run club! It’s quite marmite though and if it doesn’t suit, it’s absolutely ok to delete it-it’s free so nothing lost.

Have you got the latest version of the couch to 5k app? It now includes links to three runs (stepping stone, speed and stamina) and advice about how to progress. Essentially they recommending :

stay consistent at three runs a week

don’t add more than five minutes a week and slow the pace of your long runs

Consider adding interval and tempo runs when you’re ready

keep rest days

It’s hard when you finish and there’s a whole world ahead of you. Lots of us feel lost at first, You’ll find your way.

Well done !! Some good advice here, have you thought of doing a Parkrun, which is 5K each Saturday. I do one each week and it certainly sets you up for a good day on a Saturday morning. There is no pressure to run, you can walk it too or even volunteer. That just might keep you motivated to carry on. You have come this far, it would be a shame to stop altogether. Keep running and keep happy !!

Thanks so much everyone 🥺 I didn’t know there was so much out there! I would love to do a park run and I’m sure there is an equivalent in Madrid. All the advice is much appreciated :))

I’m sure you can do a virtual park run?

You could also keep using the Ct5k app keep replaying week 9 for the structure until you feel ready to move on.

Some people listen to podcast. I listen to music as I can’t bear hearing my own breathing.

I did my own thing for 9 months, have recently started the NRC 10k plan. As MU mentioned it is like marmite. I wasn’t sure the 1st week. But you can switch on/off the guided run. I’m ok with it now on easy runs I do t have the guidance just my music but on fartlek & others I have the guidance on.

The world is your lobster. Enjoy! 🤗
