I know I am not alone in this ! Just getting back after being knocked for 6 for about 10 days. Was on week 8 run 2. I went back to wk 5 run 1, which I really felt, but did complete, tried week 5 run 2 and my legs just gave up.

I am feeling very despondent and my old inner critic is back loud and clear , trying to remain positive but also fearing I won’t get back to where I was . I really liked it there !!!

help :(

sorry to hear you’ve been so poorly. Ah those inner demons, always waiting in the wings for their big entrance 😈 Be kind to yourself - maybe your body is not yet fully recovered so the fact that you got out there at all is a win. Every run however small prepares us for the next. Sometimes if I’m not feeling it I just go out for 20 mins and celebrate that I’ve gone out at all!

Take it easy, do what you can and when you feel ready, move on. Those runs will still be waiting and you know you can get there because you did it before. There is no rush. You’ve got this 💪🏻

Stay positive. My annoying cold hit me 3 weeks ago just after I graduated. I’ve only started running again this week and I definitely feel the difference.

Just remember how far you came to get to week 8. So you absolutely shouldn’t feel down. Colds seem to be bad this year so are knocking the stuffing out people this year.

You will get back there! Don’t listen to those demons. Every run is a win. Next time, run a little more slowly than before. Maybe allow a couple of rest days? In 10 days you won’t have lost the fitness you have built up! I had 2 months recovering from pneumonia and just when I was almost back to full fitness, I caught Covid. Went back to Week 3, but I don’t think you need to do that! I think you’ve pitched it about right.

Suggest you go out on a run. Just a run. Jog slowly for a bit and walk for a bit. Enjoy yourself! Your pace. Sounds like you need to get your confidence back. Then try Week 5 run 1 again. Good luck 😊

Ah there's some real nasty bugs around at the moment, you won't really have lost fitness but you might not be quite better, if it was me, I'd just go out, take it steady and see how far I got before needing to stop, then I'd know what my base was and where to build from. Enjoy what you can do

Oh gosh, so many of our forum friends out of sorts right now... The runs wait!

Thy really do... I have nearly , just repeated the whole of C25K for the umpteenth time after time out on the IC... stay strong...and using the three As... acknowledge, accept and adapt.

You felt that run, okay, you know why... so just head back to Week 4 and use that as a gentle come back... relax and take it slow and steady.

You know what is coming and yousimply have to believe you can do it.

Pop across to the S and F forum too... there are some great ideas for strength and stamina work especially useful when coming back from illness...

healthunlocked.com/strength......

and some great seasonal ones too...lots of fun!

We are here with you... running beside you... you will get there"
