I completed C25K for the second time in October. I was so excited š and had big plans to complete a 5k. Unfortunately I contracted a horrid virus that flared my Asthma. Iāve not run for two months.
Iāve continued with Yoga and Pilates. Do I go back to week 1?

Oh no! Sorry youāve been under the weather. Iām still out post flu. Itās not fun. You could start at the beginning-itās totally up to you. I often come back with just a gentle jog, no expectation of how long and see how that feels. Thatāll give you loads of useful information. Thereās not one right answer to this, beyond take it more slowly than you think youāll need to and be patient!
As MissU says... maybe head out and see what your body tells you... loads of us repeating all or bits of C25K. I started again and am all set for my last run ! It is a very gentle comeback especially after any weakening illness... like an old familiar friend!
We will watch out for your posts! Just take it steady!
glad you are better. I had a break with a knee injury back in the summer and thought Iād start again after 8 weeks - turned out the Yoga and Pilates did more than I thought and I actually managed Week 4 and upped the ante as I felt able. To my surprise I was back to 30 mins (not 5k) in 3 weeks. As others have said listen to your body and do what you can. Iāve just had some kind of weird virus and feel tired still so a little gentle 3K in the sunshine for me today remembering any exercise is better than none and if I give up at 2k thatās fine
Thanks. I never managed 5k in 30 minutes either! My best distance was 4.75 so near but feels so far! Iām 58 so canāt compete with these young ones that frequently do 5k sub 30! Iām heading to the gym on Wednesday for a gentle treadmill jog!
well Iām 65 and have no intention of worrying about time ever again. Just covering 5k is fine and if takes 40 mins or so I couldnāt care less - Iāve still moved for 40 mins. Just done a lovely 3.5 along the cliff in the sunshine in 28 mins which is good enough
I took myself to the gym and picked up on Week 4 run 1. Running for 5 minutes seemed hard at first but I managed. Total running time 16 minutes. Total distance including my warm up and cool down walks 3.75km. Iām happy with that š
Happy New Year! Week 4 has taken longer to complete due to holidays! Unfortunately my Fitbit has packed in! I need a new way of tracking my runs! Any quick suggestions? ( I have an I phone)
