2023: W25R1 - Winter of Mr. Lada.. :)

Josef Lada (1887 – 1957) was a Czech painter, illustrator, caricaturist, scenographer and writer. His pictures have become synonymous with what winter should look like in Bohemia. When it snows (and doesn't melt right away), it's supposed to look like this :-).

It snowed all weekend. And I had a few hours of fighting with myself today. I really didn't want to go out. In the end, reality was much easier than the horror in my mind (as usual right..?!).

But I didn't feel like a long run today.

Happy running!

Lovely winter scene paintings from Josef Lada lusmo, yes, when it snows nowadays it tends to melt right away but where I live in Central Scotland it snowed early on Saturday morning but only melted on Monday, so the snow didn't melt right away.

I was interested enough to look at some more of Josef Lada’s work. Really love those snowy scenes and some of his other work looks decidedly modern.

I haven’t often run when there’s snow on the ground. Heavy frost, yes! Minus temperatures - well, minus 2, no colder. And running in the rain is ok, as long as it’s not a downpour. I don’t run when it’s really windy.

Actually, minus 2 is pretty much ideal for me. I hate running in the hot weather and often run at 5 a.m. to avoid the heat in the summer.

Don’t blame you for cutting your run short today 😊

Those pictures are so naive, but the interesting thing is that Josef Lada fell on a knejp (cobbler's knife) as a six-month-old boy and injured his eye. As a result, he was single-minded and lacked spatial vision, which, among other things, was reflected in his characteristic flat, cartoonish style with the use of strong contours and lines.

I find it amazing when people don't give up despite difficulties! 👍

That is amazing! And I really like the style of the snow scenes.

I'm not sure why I haven't heard of Joseph Lada before... my late mother was born in Teplice :-)
