Running in a winter wonderland.

Ok... not quite... but as the UNMs set out on a little run this afternoon a few snowflakes did descend upon us. My shorts and t-shirt self did look at the weather and changed... long sleeved top under the t-shirt and I was good to go! 20 minutes around the park a couple of times... just us and two dedicated dog walkers on lap one, a few cutting through on lap two and as we did a lap of the duck pond at the end we managed to make a way for the toddler who was feeding the ducks and then decided they couldn’t walk through them back to mum as we charged through and the ducks made for the water or car park in a hurry... we’re just so public spirited! Lovely gentle run today... 5k on Sunday to complete my comeback.

Then it was off into traffic to pick up some paperwork I needed for over the weekend... got to the office I was told it would be at only to find it wasn’t there... and was in their office the other side of Manchester... rush hour was horrendous and nearly an hour and a half later we got there... and then found out it wasn’t ready so I get to repeat my journey on Monday. Still, the weekend will be less stressful!

Happy running.

Cant say I’m unhappy about the result work wise... nice relaxed weekend... just would have been nice of them to tell me it wasn’t ready 😂

Sounds like a great run UNM!! I’m glad I’ve not seen snowflakes, but smart move with the weather check and long sleeves.

Apart from the hustle through traffic, no work at the weekend! Silver lining springs to mind!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽❤️

I've just started the programme and last night I went out for week 1, run 3 in the snow. Came home drenched with mascara all down my face, but mega impressed that I voluntarily went out in the snow and didn't use it as an excuse!

Great stuff! Well done completing the first week. Hopefully we won’t get enough snow to stop us. Just got back from volunteering at parkrun and it’s really quite pleasant out there. Enjoy week 2.

Well done for getting started! And well done for going out in the snow! I'm at a similar stage to you. I look forward to reading your running adventures! Good luck with your future runs x

Thanks both :) really enjoying it so far! Think we're due a decent amount of snow in Scotland but I'm hoping it's not too bad.

Good luck to you too angelbetty, hope it's going well so far :)

Thank you. I've set myself a bit of a challenge with my C25K, I'm doing a hill run. It's approx 50m elevation with an avg. 6.5% incline up to 11% in places! No mean feat for an asthmatic in winter! Truth be told I did W1R3 in the rain and W2 R1 in sub-zero temperatures and I haven't been put off yet. I will be happy as long as life doesn't get in the way. But so far so good. X

Manchester rush hour ... you have my sympathy. Every time I hit it I wonder how the folk who do it every day manage, I'd go completely crackers. Running in gentle snow actually sounds nice, although the jacuzzi was probably my preferred option!

I couldn’t do it daily... and I don’t do trains... I rarely go to Manchester these days. Good job I don’t live near London really, I’d be hopeless.

Loved the run... given the choice jacuzzi may have won though 😂

Simple: avoid the rush hour by running to both offices. 😁

Yeah... so that’s 13 miles to one... at least 5 to the other... then 16 or so home!

Shame I’m not an urban runner or I’d do it that way on Monday 😂

Outside rush hour it’d not be so bad in the car, I would have been routed round rather than through the city.

Maybe you could shorten the journey by taking up parkour 😁

With my tendencies to injure myself??? 😂

Wear lots of padding. And a helmet. Or get like that place on YouTube where people kept injuring themselves walking into lampposts while on their phones and get the streets padded 😂

Hmm... so, you think if I pad up, so look like the Michelin man, I’ll still be able to run and vault stuff!

With your fitness and determination ? Definitely ! But please film it so the rest of us can have a good laugh - I mean, be inspired 😜
