run with an injury or fix it

I’ve completed week 6 and even managed over thirty minutes of running for my last run however I have a recurring hamstring injury that keeps coming back. Do I carry on into week seven or fix my hamstring and repeat some of the earlier runs? Thanks in advance

Recurring means it’s aggravated and will get worse. Whatever you’re doing, you’re causing it to stay inflamed. You need to check that out and heal first or you’ll make longer running gaps. Been there…

Hello and welcome Giants49 ! Glad you’ve found us and sorry you’re having injury troubles. The best thing you can do is find out what’s causing your hamstring problems and take action to fix it. That’s most likely to need a visit to someone with training if you’ve tried things out in the past but it keeps coming back. I had a brilliant experience seeing a physio when I had knee pain. I had to pay privately for a quick appointment but I thought that was well worth it. It’s best not to run while you’re injured, especially when you don’t know what the underlying cause is. Plenty of us have these issues and with proper support and patience (the hard bit!) we can carry on running. There might need to be some modifications to your training and strength work added in but it doesn’t have to be the end of your days pounding the pavements.

Good luck with getting help and back to pain free running 🏃‍♀️
