A Saturday afternoon run is something I have very seldom done but as runners we need to be versatile and take any opportunity to fit in our runs.
A sneaky cold wind with a bit of rain had me suitably clad & well warmed up inside. Today I was tackling a 25min run with Coach Corey. My route along the beach front has some optional steep paths to another path along the top. I often run on the prom & return along the top. Today however I decided to tackle each and every steep path up and down for the fun of it to prepare me for runs to come that will be more hilly.
The sea seemed extra loud as the tide was right in and the waves crashing into the sea wall. Seagulls hovering on the thermal, their familiar cry reminding me of why I love the seaside. Little wagtails eagerly scanning the banks for wild flower seeds or the occasional snack left unwittingly by walkers, caught my attention. Hard not to smile at their bobbing antics and enjoy their daintiness.
The halfway mark comes quickly today as I turn and rhythmically make my way on the homeward stretch. I am now warm with wind behind me โฆ coach tells me I can pick up speed and run faster.. not for me today! I am happy in my bubble, my gentle pace feels enough today.. I had some extra exertion earlier, up and down the steep slopes. I want to finish easily today and then a fast walk home up the hill. All too soon itโs over. Well again my reward will be different to the early morning coffee.. I contemplate ๐ค as I walk home. Got it! A mid afternoon bubble bath! Sometimes itโs fun to be different, to be out of routine, but still get the run done โ Happy weekend everyone!
