There is a long, not too high but rather prominent hill with a look-out tower on top that I can see from the backyard. The summit can be reached by many paths ranging from steep to beastly steep, plus one that may be considered moderate but is very long ( but quite fun to cycle).
So, this morning I am setting off towards W7R1 on one of my usual flat routes following the stream, shrouded in freezing mist, watching out for icy patches during my warm-up walk.
And then Laura said something about changing routes if you feel bored ... and it struck a chord.
At the five minute mark, I was huffing and puffing like never in the past 6 weeks ... but I was nearing the top with the tower.
Running along the ridge at sunrise, and then down into the mist-filled valley, a lone deer crossing my path, was an unforgettable experience.
If you feel bored, add some hills.
