Week 1 Day 2 in the bag. I totally underestimated exactly how stiff and sore my thighs would feel after Day 1.

Going up and down stairs is a real struggle and I’m walking like a pigeon. That aside, day 2 was tough. I felt like giving in half way through the second minute of running. Felt like a complete failure and was wondering if I ever had a good idea in my life ever! By run number 5 I felt much more positive. Yes, I was sounding like an asthmatic at a rave, yes I was turning into a sweaty pink blob and yes I was still way over thinking which each and every one of my limbs was doing and how had I ever gotten them to move subconsciously in the past? But I have achieved day 2 and I’m feeling smug.

Well done!

Thinking of that stiffness ... you may want to look at this post from yesterday:

Well done and hopefully you are doing some rest day exercises to keep that running body going... running alone , for many, many, of us does need supporting with some core strength work.

Do please take a look at the Strength and Flex Forum... loads of ideas there to support that running body!

Hi Perkythepink , have you read the How to run C25K FAQ? Lots of useful tips there, not least on warming up and cooling down, hydration, rest days and taking it as slowly as you need.

Happy C25K!

Good luck on your running journey, take it easy and do not go to fast, slow is the way to go, the one advantage Douglas Bader had over you is he was quicker at cutting his toenails 😜, I'm quite quick as well but not as quick.

Don't forget to stretch your thighs and achilles tendons before and after your run. It helps. 😊😊

Firstly, I am so pleased that you have started C25K. Secondly, I am a firm believer in listening to your body - if it is telling you to go more slowly, or to take two rest days, do so. The nine weeks and the 5K can be a little optimistic for some, but being out there, not giving up and getting to the goal of 30 minutes running after how ever many weeks it may take is what it really is all about.

If needs be, run more slowly or even walk. No one is judging you, and you will get there. Also, shout, grumble, stamp your feet or anything else, but whatever you do, don't give up. Take time, rest, eat appropriately, hydrate, hydrate and hydrate as needed and above all else, keep going and keep us informed.

For inspiration of what can be achieved this Youtube clip is well worth watching.

Excellent - well done! Make sure you warm up and do some stretching before AND after. Plus take the rest days seriously - and include stretches, some walking, and other gentle exercise on the "rest" day!

Good luck!
