Finished the programme last Monday and not had a chance (for various reasons) to run again until yesterday. So, after 8 rest days I started out with some trepidation but it was easy! No gremlins, not even the ubiquitous 2 minute ones, and it all just fell into place with the first track of "Atom Heart Mother" to get me going followed by a random selection of tracks off of my phone that I can't remember apart from REM's Sidewinder.
I didn't do a 5 minute warm up walk having just walked the dogs for a couple of miles around the park next to the gym, so a couple of minutes to get into my stride on the treadmill and then SLOWED DOWN into my run. Still feels strange running slower than walking but carrying the best part of 120kg at my jogging pace certainly gives a good workout. My pulse peaked at 132 but kept at a steady 125 during most of the 30 minutes, definitely an improvement on previous runs. The distance covered was just shy of 2.7 km.
Just by coincidence, the first random track played when I started my weights workout following the run was Laura and the week 9 podcast - I haven't missed "Julie" at all🤣🤣🤣. "I don't really care".
