Hi Everyone. I've just completed another 30 minute consolidation run round the park and was really starting to tire in the last minutes. By minute 29, my feet felt like a pair of concrete bananas and my thighs just wanted to stop. But when the moment finally came, I was so overjoyed to have done it, that I wanted to start jogging again - well, more like dancing really...I just wanted to bounce, twist, shake my arms, click my fingers, sing (managed to restrain myself!) and I found myself gently bouncing back to the park gate. Must have looked a sight! What's that all about then?
Well here's an odd thing: Hi Everyone. I've just... - Couch to 5K
Well here's an odd thing
Woo hoo, fantastic!
(If your legs feel like lead it can be because you aren't hydrated enough, so make sure you drink plenty of water the day before. Also, beetroot or beetroot juice can give you a bit of extra oomph to carry you through).
The pure joy of being able to run for 30 minutes is magic isn't it? And leaves you buzzing 😀😀😀
As Yesletsgo says, hydration has a big part to play in how your legs feel.
But the extra energy at the end may be the psychological boost from having completed the run. I find if I think about how long I still need to go, I sometimes feel heavy as I think about whether I can do it. I try to think about something else and let my watch or the app tell me when I’m done. I’ve found that helps with feeling like the last few minutes are a slog.
Thanks Vespina - more good advice!
Hahaha…sounds like a sight to behold Hidden …how wonderful to be so happy and still full of energy after starting to flag at the end…well done you! X
Hilarious! Thanks.
The finish line of the trail marathon I did was up a cobbled street, approximately 18% gradient. Walking up it the evening before to collect my race number felt tiring, running it an impossibility.
On the day, having already done over 46km, I ran up that street with no problem at all. Of course you need to put in the training, and you need a pinch of luck, but so much of running is in the mind.
And yes, if you're not properly hydrated, your legs will tell you.
Wonderful story - thank you! 😁😁
Go you!!!!!
Fantastic post...
