An odd thing

I have just completed W9 R2 and cannot wait to get into my next run and graduate!!

The odd thing is that for the past few weeks, since I have been doing the longer runs, I have been running at a similar pace and slightly improving with each week, but my run this evening was markedly slower according to Map My Run! I didn't feel like I was running slower but I definitely did 1km less in overall distance then I have been doing in the same time..any chance there is a blip on my app or could I really be running much slower and not notice?!!!

Could be taht you subconsciously heeded the constant advice to slow down by 20% and found a sensible pace for completing the programme. A lot of people run much too fast in the first weeks despite advice to the contrary and then when it gets to the continuous longer runs, their bodies take charge and put the brakes on a bit to gain the benefit of the exercise and avoid injury. I definitely did.

Thanks Rignold, I did find the run really comfortable so I think you are very possibly right that it's on a subconscious level! Will see how I get on with my final run in a couple of days!

Good luck with your final run

Might sound like a silly question but did you take a route that you've run previously as you can compare from previous runs on your app to know if it's a blip?

It was a slightly different route and may have differed marginally and perhaps it was less then I thought- however the time I ran for was the same? I will see what my final run comes out as! x

Well if you've run for the same amount of time then you're still working towards the main goal of the programme.

Good luck with your graduation run 😀
