Hello fellow runners It’s been a while since I’ve posted on the forum, or actively checked in to see where people are at. Back in April I pinched some nerves in my neck and was on painkillers for weeks on end. I had been so disappointed as I’d worked my way up to running 8k and was devastated to find that each time I would run I’d subsequently end up with nerve pain all over again. I started to think I would never run again or be without nerve pain. So for the last 3 months I’ve focussed on low impact exercise at the gym, leg strengthening and core work. In the last few weeks i have resumed short treadmill runs completing 4.5 k on the treadmill last week with no ill effects. So i am hoping that I’ve popped out the other side. What I’ve learnt is that focussing on other goals and doing what I can like improving low impact cardio and core strength has helped both my mind and my body. I’m hoping to get back out in the great outdoors soon running some of the lovely trail runs in my area if I can. If you find yourself in a similar situation, dont give up, do what you can and listen to your body.

Making a Comeback
🍏Thank you for this lovely encouraging post and ever so pleased to hear you have had some treadmill runs without that horrid nerve pain! Please post and let us know how your first trail run goes. It sounds like a beautiful area. Enjoy every minute!!!
What great advice, if you (we) can't run to do what we can
Absolutely brilliant! I can relate to so much of what you’ve said coming back from IT band issues. Having those different goals is so helpful. You may well find that all the strength work will have had a real positive impact on the runs. You have earned your place in those trails with Al your hard work and patience. Enjoy and make sure you tell us how it goes! ❤️❤️❤️
so positive and encouraging. We can all learn from this. It could be easy to give up but you focused on building strength and recovering.
