So I did my first run of week 3 and I feel really good( very surprisingly) đ. I did my running sections on a treadmill at just under 10km per hour, as I have arthritis in my right knee. I am reluctant to do it on the streets just incase the impact flairs up my knee. Whilst in the gym i also did some leg presses to try and build some strength in my knees to protect it when the run times starts to increase .
All in all really pleased with my first few weeks âşď¸

Well done on completing W3R1 Huggy09 . 10km per hour is pretty speedy though, especially for a new runner worried about an arthritis flare-up. You might want to slow down a bit. Unless you mean your pace is 10 minutes per kilometer? That would be 6kph.
Glad youâre enjoying yourself and congratulations on completing another run. Thatâs always worthy of celebration.
The actual numbers arenât as important as how you feel when youâre running (although I do agree with Cmoi âŚ10kph is quite speedy!). Howâs your breathing? Can you speak out loud in full, ungasping sentences? Itâs best to slow down until you can. Itâs counter intuitive but thatâs how youâll build up best. On the treadmill, that might involve slowing down as the run progresses to keep at that lovely, conversational pace. If you were outdoors, youâd be adjusting your pace naturally and itâs one of the things that can be a little harder to manage on a treadmill.
