I fell last week and badly sprained my ankle. After a week, it’s still quite swollen and bruised. I’ve been doing really well with my runs, maintaining three times a week and regularly getting to 4-5k. I’m so disappointed that I fell and really worried about how long it will be before I can run in it again! Can anyone recommend what I can do in the meantime and how long this will take to heal? 🫶

bad fall 🙁
Ouch. That sounds really really painful.
You were doing well and anything like this does come and feel like a real setback. The good news is that you will heal and the runs will wait.
Obviously, only you will know when that ankle feels completely healed, but there are things you can do, to keep your body moving until then. On the Strength and Flex site, there are a lot if ideas to keep you mobile. Seated exercise and floor exercise and some in there for exercise using just one leg!
Here is an example!

Upper body work can always be done too... I'll get some other links together for you! x
Falls are absolutely horrible. Really sorry you’re in this position. I’ve been there too and I know how frustrating it is when you want to run but can’t.
This week’s catch up corner is about things you can do when you aren’t able to run. You’re most welcome to pop over for a lot of sympathy.

For me, the key thing was to view the time off running as recovery and to do things that would support coming back to running when I was able. Thad helped me feel more in control and was a good distraction.
Sending masses of good wishes your way. ❤️
oh no! Bummer. Sending you healing wishes!
Also just sending you also the link to our Strength and Flex forum healthunlocked.com/strength...
It has kept me strong and even improved my running via S&F workouts throughout various injury couch stints.

And many workouts can be done sitting only, so it’s worth a look!
Ouch! That sounds painful ! The runs can wait until you have fully recovered.
