First fall!!

OMG, I went out at 5.30 am to make sure it was only 20degrees and not 36! And was around 20 mins into week 8 run one and comfy but working hard if you know what I mean, then bam! Pot hole in the field, my right ankle twisted and my left side went straight down onto my knee and slid for a few metres! I screamed so loud the dog was scared haha x so pissed off now as I only had 8 mins and it would have been the longest I have ever run and I’m so disappointed! I am in the bath now, have taken ibuprofen and will RICE for today, but not loads as my daughter comes home from hosp today and will need me back and fore for her! So annoyed I really could have done without this today! But I feel more like a proper runner now aswell, as I can say I have a running injury! Boosh!

Blimey, hope it's not serious and fixes quickly. Do you use kinesio tape?

Keep us updated how it goes, and best wishes for your daughter too...

Kinesio tape...works for a lot of people. It's what you see on rugby players legs! I find it very helpful. I buy it from Amazon. You do need to figure out where the injury is then watch the assosciated YouTube video as to how to apply it. I think it increases the blood flow around the injury thereby speeding up recovery.

I've had a lot of knee problems, probably related to past injuries (horses, motorcycles, skiing) and I find it helpful.

Oh I see it around their heads over the years can’t say I noticed it on their legs ha x well I have some tape here it says sports tape, it’s years old but it’s still sticky, I will put that on to run then is it? Not now?

Hope you’re ok! I’ve got pavement paranoia these days. Safer to run on the roads near me.😶🤣

in reply toTasha99

Haha x pavement paranoia fab! I run so ridiculously early only me the dog and some guy with a beard? Every day on those pavements x but I like to run field and woods to make it harder for myself and to get more muscles working harder than they would be on tarmac all the time but it scared me this morning I realised how stupid I was being what with my daughter needing me in one piece but I HAD to run! You know what it’s like?! Anyway, lessons learned and all that, pavement all the way!

You can fall anywhere to be honest. I’ve only fallen on pavement and been fine on trail. It’s just bad luck. Don’t let it put you off running in woodland area.

Oh no! Ouch! So sorry to hear that.... sounds painful!

The amount of holes I've fallen down on country walks..... if there's an old fence post hole... my foot will always find it! They can be blinking deep!

Yes, try to rest up today.... as much as possible anyhow x

in reply toSara_Wales

I’m flat on my back now, told pops dad I’m resting this leg until he gets here eith her and then I should be ok to fetch and carry etc, I will just sit with my foot in the air on the recliner inbetween cooking and washing and cleaning and etc etc etc haha x

Oh no !

Hope you are ok !

Ibuprofen and rice , perfect menu for today , let's hope it's ok again soon !

Potholes are the worst !

Luckily I have not been caught by one YET (Well, at least not when running !) They are bad enough in the car !

Stay soaking in that bath and rest up !

Hope your out again soon 👍

Oh no! Sorry to hear that.

I'll bet you'd just got into a comfortable rhythm too.

Definitely rest now. Here's hoping that your ankle (and the grazes) will heal quickly.

Thanks both, I’m so disappointed as I only had 8 minutes left, and I was really comfy but working hard, I’m hoping now to have one rest day tomo and be back out there the day after

In Week 4, I twisted my ankle a little getting out of the shower after the run! Not a big twist, and it had sorted itself out by the next run.

Oh ouch! And that’s embarrassing hahahah x
