Another shorts and t-shirt morning. I donβt think my legs are quite so white! So, 2 x 8 minute runs and halfway through the programme.
I did write another workout for this in my watch, so I had buzzing as well as the coach from the app. I also decided to listen to a podcast. Lately, Iβve been βzoning outβ from the music so thought Iβd try something different. I selected one from Amazon Music which talked about Aethelstan, the first King of England. Iβm interested in that period of history and it was excellent.
So, everything ready and off I go up the hill for my warm up walk. It was a brisk walk this morning! Time for the first 8 minute run and I set off too fast and force myself to slow down. Easy conversational pace for the rest of the 8 minutes. Listening to the podcast really worked for me this morning. I take the same route as yesterday and itβs very quiet. The route involves a βno throughβ road and I happily run on the road! I donβt know why I like doing that so much π. 8 minutes done and I slow down to a walk.
This 5 minute recovery walk seems longer than I remember from the first time around! Iβm happily listening to my podcast when itβs time to run again. Itβs uphill for a stretch (only slightly, but I can feel it in my legs and breathing). Iβm not a fan of hills having done most of my running in the Norfolk fens! I slow down to allow for the incline. I turn left down the hill and my breathing recovers. Coach says I can speed up at the end if I want to, although he does also say to slow down if Iβm getting tired. I speed up a bit! And the run is over. Iβm a little out of breath, but feel it was a good run.
Home for stretches and coffee! βοΈ

Terrific! I was set up to audiobook for Friday, but ended up with music. But actually I'm not enjoying the music as much as I was, and before this all started my walks were with a book or podcast. I do miss that, but am unsure about having Laura in my ear as well as Melvyn Bragg or Lauren Laverne ...
And my shorts are on the way, so the neighbourhood may be exposed to my knees by Thursday!
Yes itβs easier to listen to audiobooks or podcasts once youβve graduated. Also the Nike Run Club app is excellent, too, for later on. There are talks on there for specific distance runs, or time runs. Very motivating ! Many people on here use them. The app is free.
Good that your shorts are on the way! I remember feeling very self conscious in my lycra shorts and ran at 5:00 am π€£ but soon got over that and donβt even think about it now apart from the white legs the first few times I wear them in the spring!
Iβm 69 and I wear shorts and Lycra without a second thought! I was a bit concerned about the shorts to start with, but soon realised that nothing bad happened π. Plus - itβs awful to be too hot!
Ok then! Youβve convinced me! I will wear shorts on my next run π€π and Iβm going to order a pair of Lycra ones too! I love me a bit of stretch π
