First 5k...well, as good as

I'm not sure how advisable this was seeing as I only finished the programme on Wednesday, but I had already entered this 5k Cancer Research 'race for life', and had anticipated getting to the end of the programme earlier than I did. Realising it was a big step up, I just went as slow as I could possibly manage. It took me 44 minutes so that shows I was taking it very steady. I jogged it all bar a hilly bit near the end (wish they hadn't done that!😆) where I was starting to struggle so walked 50-100m I reckon.

I am very pleased, and very grateful to the c25k programme and community on here for preparing me in an appropriate way for this event. I'd have liked to have got a few consolidation runs in first but never mind; I think I could've jogged it all had it been on the flat so I'm happy.

sounds like you were careful, took a steady pace, walked when you needed to and completed the race successfully. Congratulations on this significant achievement!

Very well done on running that run for such a brilliant cause ! Well done too for listening to your body and taking it very steadily, and jeffing when you needed to !

Time now to move forward gently with some consolidation ... some 30 minute runs, some shorter relaxed runs and maybe, some lovely longer relaxed, see where you get to, runs. Take some time to keep building up your strength and stamina, too.

As you move on your running body needs to keep up with the new running legs:)
