So I tried to do couch to 5k over 5 weeks ago and failed as was unable to complete day 1, well I started doing bootcamp 5 weeks ago and today I finally managed to complete day 1. so happy, hoping I can continue as I suffer with shin splints

not gonna lie wasn't easy but I just took my time and went slow but better than the first time I tried

slow is good! go as slow as you need to - I'm a snail and I got through the programme

shins were not to bad, just reading the link you sent how do you find out what are the beat running trainers

Best way is to have a gait analysis from an independent running shop.They will video your running gait for a few minutes on a treadmill and recommended running shoes based on that .

I wouldn't see it as a failure, to come back and restart takes strength and courage 💪, keep going, I hope you can get the shin splints sorted out

I'm awaiting physio however doing bootcamp each week seems to be helping getting use to exercise

I had to repeat week 1 a few times before I could manage it. But the programme works and now I can run far further than I ever would have believed possible. Definitely use the link instructor57 put in and keep reading the posts on this forum- so many useful tips come up here, especially to slow right down. Shin splints have been discussed a few times, so it might be worth doing a search for them in this forum. Good luck with the next runs.
