A busy and positive week, with good news on OH’s cancer treatment from the oncologist on Wednesday that means he can avoid major surgery for now. He’s opted for a policy of watch and wait, with testing every three months. He is looking and feeling fit, and is running when I run, except he simply can’t run as slowly as I do. After the appointment we went up to the woods. It was supposed to be a 2.41km run with Coach Amy but I hadn’t loaded it on the Garmin, so we just ran a bit and walked a bit for 40 minutes and it was 3.93kms.
We visited our middle daughter in York on Thursday and dug and weeded her garden. Her job takes her all over the place, and her partner lives a couple of hours away, so she has little time to do it herself. The ground was rock hard and the weeds were taking over. We made a fair dent in it and OH took a full carload of weeds to the tip while I swept up, then we had a walk in the park with the dog, and both daughters joined us for a takeaway pizza when they finished work.
The result of the digging on Friday morning was a bit of achiness, so I wasn’t that keen to run, but Coach Amy said run one mile/ 1.61kms, so we decided to go for it. It was warm and sunny, so we chose a shady straight-ish, level-ish, track through the woods - just a very slight incline for the first km, then turned back to make the last part slightly easier. I did find it hard, but I’m very happy that I kept running for the whole mile and only walked for the warm up and cool down. Coach Amy still saying Room to Grow - I suppose I should feel that’s a good thing.
Back to our own garden today..

That photo tells it all, times have been tough, tense, worrying, call it what you like and there you are looking happy and relaxed on a stunning beach with the dog, and such good news for your OH, it really does make us realise how precious life is doesn't it? And then you run! Brilliant both of you x
Thanks Pete.. you can see Scout had been in the sea, and she is really scruffy at the moment. I tried to cut her hair myself as her usual groomer has retired.. she hates it and won’t keep still so I didn’t do a very good job! 😂
I hope you’re having fun on your activity weekend!
