Inspired by Bluemerlegirl βs beautiful post this morning, I thought it would be fun to share where weβre running. Photos very welcome!
I did my couch to 5k mostly around the country lanes near my house. Thereβs a gate exactly five minutes walk away where I always started from and almost always still start from over a year later! I did most of my runs as out and back runs and it was great to get further and further away from the start as the runs got longer. Itβs uphill almost all the way out which Iβd never noticed while I was walking. The bonus of having a slightly tougher out section is coming back is glorious and your legs feel lighter than air!
Have you got a regular route or do you like to mix it up? Hilly? Flat? Road? Trail? Treadmill? A mix if all of these?
Letβs see those run routes!

Good morning MissUnderstanding, tomorrow I intend to run 7K as part of eventually getting back to 10K by the end of the month, in fact its my Quest for March, as I am not too bothered about how long 7K will take, I will stop and take a photo of part of my route, I will headline it "AlMorr, Photo for MissUnderstanding"
Fairly similar, however, when I was doing C25K, run 3 of all the weeks we're ran in a different place, my C25K days were Wednesday, Saturday and Monday, since I retired I have always gone somewhere away from home on a Monday, so I remember where I ran on the final day of each week, particularly run 3 of week 5 and week 9
I ventured further afield today. Iβve run down the greenway (a footpath/cycleway/bridleway that was once a railway line) a few times but today I crossed the road to a new section that passes this cute cafe . No time to stop today but may be next time I walk this far
Whatever gets you moving! Treadmills are such useful machines. Who knows-maybe one day that alpine trail run might happen! Facebook keeps βsuggesting for meβ a volcano marathon in Iceland. Thatβs what Iβm dreaming of when Iβm running along a dual carriageway!!!
My bucket list that I am aiming for includes running the NYC marathon under a charity bib! I am slowly going to get myself there, one step at a time!!! If the Icelandic marathon calls to you, I say go for it!
Thanks for the encouragement! London would be my top dream-I was in the ballot this year but no luck. Perhaps if that doesnβt happen again next year, Iceland might be it! Just being able to consider doing there events is a bit of a dream in itself! Letβs hope both of us run our marathons one day!
These are some photos of a lane where the vast majority of my runs start. Itβs a gateway to some wonderful routes! Ancient woodland, small villages, open fields. I love it and didnβt realise just how lucky I was to have it nearby until I started running. Once I up my mileage again, I canβt wait to pootle along it and see where I end up. π
Great selection of photos-youβre surrounded by lovely places to run. Iβve found needing to find longer routes has been brilliant for finding some absolutely gems of locationsβ¦and also a fair few dead ends! Navigation is not my strong point! Enjoy exploring! πββοΈβ€οΈ
I hear you! Last year I ended up βtrespassingβ through someoneβs garden as it was that or turn back which would have added miles. My footpath app lied and said the manβs garden was a footpath. Even his dog gave me a funny stare! π
Lovely crisp run after work this evening. Benbulben mountain is at about the halfway point of an 8k route I run. It's such a great view, their could be about seven waterfalls flowing down from it sometimes in the winter when it's raining heavily.
That looks a beautiful place to run, we did almost all C25k round a half k track at the back of a park, the following summer we ventured into the Downs and along the seafront. Then we found the river track which made a nice change. I sometimes just walk out the door and run round the streets, looking in people's front gardens and enjoying the different things people grow. Once I ran south to the sea, east towards town, across the bridge and north alongside the river where Willow met me 10k later and brought me home in the car. So, we mix it up.
Even when I go straight out the door I rarely know where I'm going, my legs lead and my brain wonders. 'will I get to the sea front and see the sea?' Will I head north and see the downs?' will I just loop round the village wondering if I should pop into this shop or that?' once I ran past my doctor's and wondered if I should pop in and pick up a blood test form that had been waiting weeks.
I wonder if once I have more time I'll set a pattern? We shall see.
My very favourite runs last summer were along the seafront, out and back, to meet Willow on the beach where he sat on a blanket with a to go cup of tea, whipped off my shoes and straight in the sea to cool off.
The Calder valley is one of my favourite places to visit-beautiful scenery and lovely people! β€οΈ
Canals are such great places to run-usually lovely scenery, wildlife andβ¦flat!! Yours looks a wonderful place to run. πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
thank you MissUnderstanding , Iβm in total agreement with you, the Calder valley is beautiful, thereβs lots of lovely places to run..& walkβ¦and I think Yorkshire folk are known for being friendly xx
This is my favourite place to run,at the moment, just over 3.5 kms of loop track which can be done as an out and back to make up the kms or circular with 2 different endings for variety. I love the native birds, tΕ«Δ« and bellbirds singing, being followed by pΔ«wakawaka flitting for insects. No need for headphones and music! Itβs a privilege to be out in such beautiful nature. Makes me feel Iβm somewhere much more remote than 10 minutes from town!

Well as many folk know I completed my C25K in the cold, wet, dark winter of 2015, through the village, and around the lanes where I live,
After Graduation, I discovered that the fields and trails I have walked on many, many times were just perfect for my early morning runs. I am fortunate enough to spend at least half my time over the year in Wales also, and every run there is a joy, also.
The photograph is a frosty shot of a section of my beloved fields; they have been and still are an integral part of my running and my rambling. Season through season, in all weathers, I love them.
I run with my husband and we did our C25K in our local cemetery, itβs 5 minutes walk from our house and a full lap is 2K, and itβs still our favourite local place to run, we can only run there at the weekends during the winter as it closes early, but itβs open until 6pm from this month, so we are back to 3 runs a week. This photo was taken back in Feb 2021.
my running routes are different but I have uploaded 4 pics of my view on my most recent runs, they are not as beautiful as some I have seen on here though! You can see it was bin day this morning π and the photos with the concrete wall on the other side is the river Thames π however I donβt know how to upload multiple photos so will have to re-post the other photos so apologies in advance
Iβm lucky enough to have a wonderful route from near home down to the river. I miss this as I canβt run it after dark, so loving that the brighter days mean I can get back into the woods and trails through the week, as well as the weekend.
