Where do you run? Cycle path, road, fields?

So I use a cycle path for my runs but recently ran whilst on holiday across country which was so much harder (have to watch your feet to avoid falling over all the time!) and was wondering where the rest of you run? Also any tips for running on different surfaces as I'm hoping I can start using some of the local walking trails as I can run further but after last week's cross country attempt I'm a bit cautious to try as I don't want to be watching my feet the whole time

I run on pavements which I enjoy , I actually don't mind the route as long as I'm outside . Good luck 😊

Currently I run on paths, but I started on a track that goes around a field. I moved to the paths as I was fearful of cocking over on my ankle on the track. Now I’m about to start week 7 I might have to go back round on the track again as well as the paths to extend my distance as I don’t want to end up too far away from home and for some reason hate the idea of back tracking on myself, so want to keep to a circuit.

Back tracking feels demoralising so I definitely understand your want to avoid it. If you work out a good way to avoid the fear of falling over on the track (as well as avoiding actually falling over) let me know as I share that fear but want to use paths to extend the distance as well.

I try and run on trails and paths round fields if I can (I think/hope it's a bit more shock absorbing than tarmac). Can get muddy though. I tend to scan about 10ft ahead as I run, and pick out my foot placements before I get there, so I rarely look down at my feet (unless there's a rocky step or something). Hope you figure out something that works cross country!

Thanks. I'll try and scan ahead a bit more to keep my head up

Only started friday 3 runs in so far I've done, field run, beach front and local roads if I'm honest my favourite was along the beach (theres path all the way) as the views amazing but even at 9am the temp was 19° and there wasn't a breeze so it was a tough one (that was my 1st all in 5k and done it in 40.46 was pretty chuffed as was 2nd run). Good Luck finding your favourite x
