I start week 8 tomorrow and the step up seems very doable , so I ask if any of the been there done that runners can advise of any pitfalls ? The finish is in sight now and I am , like so many before me , gonna be buzzing as ct5k seemed such a dream , and dreams can come true , I heard that once , never quite believed it till now . Thanks ya all 🙏

My best tip is to not overdo things. Relax into the runs and don't chase any particular pace. Do what feels comfortable.

I "pushed" and on my final 30 minute run as well as doing 5km I gave myself a badly sprained ankle. I had never run before doing C25K and my body hadn't had enough time to adapt to this new thing.

I did week 8 run 1 yesterday (and also 4 years ago 🤣). This time round it was ok, it's only 3 minutes more than you ran last time, after all. Today though, I've felt wiped out, so I'd just say watch out for it biting you on the bum after the event. I'm thinking I might wait 2 days before doing run 2, I'll see how I feel tomorrow. Hope it goes well for you, good luck!

Thank you , I will take it easy , especially first 10 mins , then hopefully match your success without any biting of the bum events , cheers 🤓👍

I totally agree with nowster . I felt a bit of pressure (only from myself!) to make sure that my end of programme runs were all faster and further than I’d been before when the best way to approach them is to stick with what’s worked for you. Stay at the steady pace that’s got you here. There’s no need to do anything different from your earlier runs. I think I’d got it into my head that I had to run 5k to have properly graduated which is a load of rubbish.

You can just enjoy these runs knowing you’re well prepared and you’re ready for them. Maybe even start thinking about how you’ll celebrate when you cross that final line. Not long now!

You're absolutely right Iceland1974 - this is indeed only the beginnning. Though I have to confess that I had that moment of realisation rather later than you have - I was certainly into week 8, probably 9 before it dawned on me! It's brilliant that you're thinking that way.

Have fun completing C25K, then once you've consolidated for a while you can really start exploring how you'd like to run!

Rocky 4 soundtrack to run to. Eats up the minutes and makes the run feel like a training montage. He's like a piece of steel! 😉

I have just done week 8 run 1 this morning. Returning to c25k after 3 years of knee and leg problems. Take it easy from the start and you will do it no problem. It is only 3 minutes longer. You have many more runs to build up and go faster if you want. Enjoy.

Cheers and I will do it

No pitfalls, just you completing this amazing programme - nearly there, keep it slow and steady and we’ll all be cheering you on to the finish line.👏🏻

You're on the home straight. Enjoy it.

The only pitfall is getting carried away and going too quickly or thinking that can now run 4 or 5 times a week.

Just keep doing what you've done so far and you'll be fine. Exciting times ahead ...
