still anxious but getting back out there.

find my anxiety worse in the mornings, had a stinking cold last week so that made it worse, I couldn’t get out at all to run. Managed a 3.5 mile jog this morning, more tortoise than hare though. Felt much better afterwards. Anxiety is the worst feeling ever but exercise like running does help. Keep running my friends. 😊😊

Tortoise style is a great place to be! Nothing wrong with taking things steady-it’s the best way to develop as a runner. 🏃‍♀️🐢❤️

I had a similar run yesterday. I felt like my head was just full of stuff and I needed to get out and switch my brain off. Just plodding around the lanes was the perfect remedy. So glad it’s helping you too and it sounds like a great run as well.

I’ve just spotted you don’t have a graduate badge even though you’re a graduate of c25k! If you’ve like one, just drop a message on the following thread. It isn’t compulsory by any means but you worked hard to get to the point where you can go out and run 3.5miles. Our newbies will be looking forward to that day!

Slow and steady... you can do this.

So many of us, have felt, are feeling, and will feel as you do... all different reasons but all knowing how hard this is for you.

You can do this because we will be running beside you...so, just take it gently. ease back onto it and try, to just go with the flow... Imagining those stresses and strains floating away as you move on gently.

You are not on your own x

aw thank you Oldfloss, that means a lot 👍👍

Have you tried therapy Agelesslass ? Even if you have, it might be worth another try. There are efficatious treatments for anxiety and depression that run alongside medication and self help (like running).

You can self refer to your local psychological therapies services and maybe look (if you havent already) at mindfulness and medication, online,

You really don't need to suffer alone!

I am seeing a therapist and he is helping, but it’s very expensive, no chance of it on NHS. Thanks so much for your reply helenwheels, zi really appreciate it. I will get there but it’s a long road. 🤞🤞

You are entitled to NHS help. Pester your GP!

I too suffer extreme anxiety, and getting out of the house is the biggest challenge. Looking on the bright side, the running is a doddle once you’re over that hurdle. Well, maybe doddle is pushing it a bit 😂 I’m on W5 and starting to enjoy it more. Snow up North today and I’m quite gutted. Good luck with getting out there.

thank you Bristol, anxiety is a terrible thing, unless you suffer with it you’ve got no idea what it’s like. Good luck in your running, it’s certainly a good adrenaline release, it helps me a lot.
