First run outdoors!

Phew! Just completed W4 R1 and it was actually my first run outside as I usually run on the treadmill at the gym. I must say I really enjoyed the change of scenery! Trying to follow along my (intended) route was a very welcome distraction from thinking about how long I had been running; I find on the treadmill I just watch the seconds tick by painfully slowly 🐌

I did get a little lost and thus added a small extra loop onto the run which meant I had an extra 5 minutes to cool down but it was certainly very enjoyable and I'm actually looking forward to the next one!

That sounds great! I also moved from the treadmill to the great outdoors around week 4 when I did cto5k. It felt strange at first, but was exciting too! Getting lost is my favourite thing!

It took me until week 7 to get lost. Up to that point I'd been doing the same fixed out-and-back route.

I found myself crossing a field of wet grass having no idea where it led. I found an escape near one corner, went along a path and suddenly recognised that I was then on a path I used to walk our dog twenty years previously.

Very well done you!

Getting lost too... super... I still get lost and I have run around the area where I live, I have lived here for 7 years! Hooray for you!

That's brilliant! It must be good to have the treadmill as a backup if the weather is lousy, but I can imagine it's a bit boring..

We’ll done! I’m a couple of days behind you. Glad you enjoyed your outside run; I think the weather adds an interesting dimension to runs. Got drizzled on today and it was very refreshing!

I have found running outside so much better (and far less tedious) than the treadmill and I now prefer a run outside regardless of the weather to staring at the stats and wondering why the next km hasn't come up yet😀. Good luck with your running👍.

Its amazing how different places look when you’re on foot, faster on foot or going the reverse direction! I’ve had a fair few extended cool down walks myself. Well done!

Well done. I started outdoors. Can't imagine doing it on a treadmill. I understand that some people have no other option and it's great that they do it. I just find the head space great... and the air... and the nature... (Not so much the leaves and frost).
