I thought running at twilight would be a good idea. I was wrong.

all went well until 4K and then catastrophe struck and I missed my footing on a kerb. Glasses broken, wrist a mess, shoulder sore, knees a mess. Had to be helped up by a child. The embarrassment 🤦🏻‍♀️ I iced my wrist and put my big girl drawers on whilst trying not to cry in utter frustration at my own stupidity. Will it put me off - no. Did it shake me - 100%

Oh no!!! I did something very similar a couple of weeks ago. For me it was sprains all over the place and a trip to A and E. Wishing you a speedy recovery-take it easy and restart really slowly when you’re ready. Thinking of you ❤️

So sorry to hear this, that must have been a nasty shock. I really hope you start to feel better soon - feet up and do nothing for the rest of the day ⭐️🎅🎄.

Sorry to hear this, what a nasty shock for you 😢 I hope you recover quickly and feel brave enough to get back out there when you’re ready.

Hoping that you are feeling not too battered this morning. Oh my, This is not funny. Maybe you had a spare pair of glasse... I hope so.

What a nasty shock. Take it slow and take it steady, as you recover x

Sorry to hear about your trip. It is easily done and I’ve had a few trips on kerbs myself. Hope you’re ok!

UPDATE - Thank you for all the kind wishes. I found a pair of old glasses which have a very similar prescription as the broken ones so that was a win. The wrist and forearm are fine now but my shoulder isn’t. It’s not agonising or anything but it’s very sore with certain movements but that’s to be expected I guess. I’ll probably go to the gym tomorrow for a treadmill run just to be on the safe side and to have a hazard free ‘back in the saddle’ run. 😊

Really glad you found another pair of glasses. Hope yours can be mended-it’s such a nuisance with the timing and all the opticians being closed!

Take it slowly with getting back to running. If your shoulder is still very sore, I don’t think I’d be going anywhere near a treadmill until it’s eased off. There’s no rush. I know it’s frustrating having been where you are! While I was waiting for my wrists and elbows to recover enough to start running, I did some lower body strength work-just squats, lunges, that sort of thing.

Really good luck with your recovery ❤️

ouch! That was me 2 years ago…attempting my 60 minute graduation run for Bridge to 10km on Xmas morning when tripped over a kerb! Broken glasses, scraped face with bump on forehead, broken fingernails, bruised shoulder and knee! Had to walk home, took me 20 minutes…

Anyway…had a couple of days of 2k walks, and a couple of 20-30 minute gentle runs…then went out and completed the 60 minute run on NY Eve.

Still not keen on kerbs 😬

Being nosy, I had a quick look at your profile…i see you’ve had this misfortune before…poor you!

Take care and be gentle with yourself. The runs will wait…

💕💐

You’re right, Lottie, it’s happened before. I’m hoping it won’t happen again! The first time it was an uneven pavement and this time it was simply a case of running in the dark and damp.

I waited a week as my shoulder was sore and I think I have/had a bruised rib. I did a treadmill run on NYE and today I did an outdoor run and it was, thankfully, uneventful.

I just need to be sensible about where I run and stay vigilant about my surroundings. Thanks for your concern - it is appreciated 😊
