I’ve been trying to put them into practice.
Firstly making sure that I’m better hydrated, including on none run days, which is not as easy as you would think but has highlighted how bad I was at this before (coffee for breakfast, coffee for lunch, coffee in the afternoon etc…).
I’ve also come to terms with the fact that I’m not and never will be Seb Coe, and have slowed right down, so that I’m now moving at what the local sheep (I run past a farm) seem to find a most amusing pace, glacial I think I heard one of them baa as I practiced talking out loud and wished them a good day.
These two things combined with a slice of my 49th birthday cake, as a small reward this morning, have enabled me to continue with much more confidence, completing week 5 run 1 in the rain today and enjoying it!
