For anyone who doubts the truth of what we say here on the forum, about Park Run being for everyone... please do read Chinkoflight 's post...
This is such a forward looking post form Park Run.... and for anyone who feels they just wish to experience the Park Run, maybe just go along on a rest day ( Saturday) and get the feel )
So anyone wanting to join us over there as well and post how they found it, they are very welcome! (I think I can hear my Nordic Walking sticks are clicking with anticipation!)
At my local event the final finishing times are highly variable. Sometimes the tail walkers get to jog the final lap. Occasionally there's a group of slow walkers and the finish line volunteers are standing around in the cold and snow for over an hour and a quarter.
All are welcomed, and the final group will usually get a bigger cheer than the first guy (it's always a leggy young guy) to finish.
Yes , parkrun has always been there for those who wish to walk, or run slowly, but it is good that they are to promote this during the month of October. They are asking doctors, teachers and other professionals to pass on this message to those who are inactive and would benefit from joining in this weekly activity. The organisation is also keen for new parkruns to be set up in areas where the residents don’t have easy access to free physical activities .
You can now also register in a new category as a wheelchair user.
