So here I go ... the dreaded week 5!! First run today and thankfully finished it feeling comfortable and satisfied with my achievement. Hopefully the rest of the week will leave me feeling the same

Week 5 should NOT be Dreaded !In fact no week or run should be !

Week 5 is a week to celebrate...

It's one of the best weeks in the program as you will realise how far you have come .

Just trust in the program and yourself and enjoy it.

This may help .

Stop with the dreading right now! If you enjoyed run 1 week 5 you are going to be so happy when you’ve done the next 2 runs, I still get a kick out of running 20 minutes, it’s a complete game changer, just start slower than you ever thought possible and your legs are so ready to keep going to the end, then come back here and tell us all about it so we can cheer you on

Well done to you Lady_loper on getting to week 5 of C25K, I suppose you use the word "dreaded" not so much for week 5, but run 3 of week 5, it's not dreaded, no run on C25K is dreaded, they should all be enjoyed, take all the runs, especially run 3 of week 5 especially slow and steady, once you have completed it you will be very proud of yourself and know that in a few weeks time you will have graduated from C25K.

I'm at same stage as you, did wk5 run 1 this afternoon and felt great afterwards but like you I'm a bit nervous about run 3, it seems such a big leap and I really can't imagine managing a 20 minute run but I'm gonna give it my very best shot n who knows I might even enjoying it, it will be a massive achievement.... we can do this 💪

You’ll be fine, tell yourself before you do it that you can and you will finish it on such a high - you’ll be smiling for days - good luck and enjoy! 😊

You’ve got this, take it steady and trust those legs, they’ve got you this far beautifully 😊

Think I'm a bit nervous because I got to run 1 week 9 just over a year ago and injured myself part way through that run. I was gutted as, after being a non runner for many years, I'd found something that gave me my own space, a sense of achievement and also helped with the loss of my Dad. I would be devastated if I got hurt again but if I can get past this week my confidence will soar again.Thank you all for your support and replies xxx

I said the exact same thing on here for run 3 of week 5 and received the same advice; you’ll find it’s the best run of the program once you complete it (and you will), you feel such a sense of achievement and will smile for days. Good luck and enjoy 😊

Don't worry Lady_loper. You and I have very similar stories, I also pushed myself too hard at week 9 trying to run too fast last time around and ended up hurting myself. But this time I've managed to get to week 5 run 3 OK, with support from all these lovely contributors, and just taking it really slowly...speed doesn't matter, just keep going and you'll do it!

Hi, I completed week 5 last week and was really surprised how well it went. I'm by no means a runner either, a couple of stone overweight unfortunately but dig deep and just keep going, you'll amaze yourself. Good Luck!
