just completed my first run. I managed the 60 seconds bursts easier than I had anticipated considering my fitness is absolute terrible. I'm doing it in the gym for now until I feel brave enough to get out and about!
I came away feeling like I'd really achieved something and now already can't wait to get back and do my second run!
I'm nearly 20 stone so it is a massive thing to get started on, but I've come away today with a whole new perspective!

Fabia93 you are amazing! You have done a fantastic thing going running in a gym. I struggle with obesity and "what others might think" 🙄. You, my dear fellow-runner, are absolutely amazing for getting started. You will totally smash this. 💪
Welcome. Very well done. People with terrible fitness are common here, but there’s many of us who have fixed that to support you on your journey. My watch measures my fitness age… I didn’t see it at the start, when I first got the watch it was 55… now apparently I’m not only 20, I’m an excellent 20 year old, which is good as I just turned 50 😎. Before I started I was out of breath and sweating if I bent over to pick a pair of socks from the floor. Like me, you’ll smash all that and be amazed how quickly the fitness increases.
Run 1 still gives me nightmares… I swear it tried to kill me 8 times. You found it easier than you thought, so I can absolutely tell you that you can do this and anything else you set your mind to.
The fear of being seen by others can be quite strong (it was for me). What we all need is to see someone who looks just like us out there and doing it… so when you do decide to venture outside, just think how many people you may inspire to do something about their health and fitness.
You’ve done amazing. It’s hard to start running when fitness is none existent. I remember when I did run 1 for the first time, it nearly killed me 😂 my breathing was all over the place and I cursed every minute that I run. Mind you I still curse every minute I run now and I’m on week 9 😂 so keep going, you’re doing well 🏃♀️👍
Congratulations for starting, that's the hardest bit over with! You'll be amazing yourself and others every week now with your progress. Do keep posting! 🤗
Well done! You have made your first steps on what will be an incredible and wonderful journey. There may be ups and downs, but you have also found your way to a very helpful community of runners.
Hi there, Congratulations on your first run. I'm a fellow newbie (on week 2 now). Like you I was nervous about running in public - until I realised that if people have negative thoughts about me, they're not the kind of people whose opinions matter 😃
Well done Fabia93. I graduated last month and can honestly say that when I started the programme, I didn’t know if i’d complete it or give up, either through injury or just not being fit enough to do it. But it’s amazing how it progresses you little by little and conditions your body to enable you to do it. Some were tougher than others but I stayed on a similar route each time which was mostly flat so I didn’t overdo it. I always looked forward to what the next run would bring me and really embraced it. I have always ran outside but in less busy/public places (still do). When you decide to do an outside run, just plug yourseld in, find some music to run to (which works with the programme) and don’t worry about anyone. You will be inspiring others and you’ll never know it. Good luck on your journey x
1st time out the door is a bit intimidating, but when you realise you have a 5-minute walk to do you should be well away from the neighbours before you start running.I bumped into a few neighbours after I had started. They had no idea I was running. They all thought I was just walking, albeit a bit strangely dressed. (Not unusual for me).
Woo hoo!!! Absolutely fantastic Fabia93 …you have the biggest Kudos from me today…very well done..I’m sore it won’t be long before you’re out in the open air…being an inspiration to the couch dwellers 💪🏻🏃🏼♀️ 🏃♂️
