I’ve always liked the saying...a ship in harbour is safe. But that’s not what ships are for.

It’s time to set sail!

You’ll have a reason to do it. You just need to stop creating reasons not to do it. Go for it and good luck!

Just take it slow and steady and you'll be fine and stretch out afterwards. This is a great place to drop in for the motivation - there will always be others at the same stage of the programme plus plenty of us who remember it well. Good luck.☺

The hardest part is putting your shoes on and going out the door. Your mind will come up with all sorts of excuses to put you off. Don't listen. Nice and steady wins the race. Have fun....

Make sure you do the warm up walk and then the warm down walk. (But don't forget the bit in the middle about running? :-) ) We are 67 & 64 and just started (on week 6, last run) and lovin it. It's all about slow and steady wins the race. Forget speed, forget that race you have planned in the future and just plod along. You will be just fine ;-)

Nice! Although I’m a few weeks ahead, I can report that feeling of trepidation and then pleasant surprise continues every week! Keep going

In relation to injury I would second the need for stretching. I've only just done W1D2, and after day 1 my hips hurt for a couple of days, so after day 2 (last night) I did a load of stretches and today - no aches or pains. So it may be worth spending 5 or 10 minutes at the end of the run stretching.

It’ll be hard especially if you’ve never run before. But afterwards the sense of achievement will surpass that. Remember we’ve all been there and we all felt the same but we’ve all moved on. Good luck.

Taking it slow and easy is the answer, also a running buddy helps to keep going. Hubby and I are 67 and 72 and we are on w5r2, amazing and seemingly impossible. We find the first run in each session the hardest. For us it gets easier as we work through the programme. Good luck.
